Don’t put it off

There’s a shop near the place I’m currently living called The Bone Room. I’ve never been, but from what I hear it is a very cool, creepy old shop that sells, well, bones.

I first heard about this place a month and a half ago. I wanted to go check it out, but I thought “it would be more fun to do this with friends than alone, so I’ll organize an outing.” I then organized one, which fell through, then another, which fell through again. Then Allison got really sick for a month, and I had to spend all my time taking care of her, and she certainly wasn’t up for going anywhere.

I knew that they would be closing June 1st, last month. I arranged one last trip, to go there with friends the day before they closed, and decided to scout it out myself ahead of time a few days beforehand.

And they had closed already. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been forced to close the shop earlier than predicted” read the sign in the window.

I didn’t get to see it. I’ll never get to see it. Because I put it off for too long, that opportunity is lost to me forever. The photo above, taken through the front window is the only bit of it I’ll ever get to see.

So here is my advice. Don’t put things off. If you can do them today, do them. And don’t be afraid of not doing something with your friends. If it’s worth doing once, it’s probably worth doing twice, so why not do it once on your own, then again with your friends? Twice is definitely better than zero times.

The Bone Room is closed forever now, but www.TheBoneRoom.com is (supposedly, though not at the time of this writing) going to carry on its legacy.
